Have you ever wondered what the Living Library event is about? A couple of weeks ago, members of the Atascadero community came to the Atascadero High School library and shared their jobs and life stories. The Living Library is an event where students and members of the community come together to have a conversation. I participated in this event along with many other students to talk to the adults of the community about their careers and successes. This program is based on The Human Library, the original organization behind the event. The Human Library started in Copenhagen, Denmark, in the year 2000. Instead of lending books, you lend people and learn about their own prejudices. The first event ever put on included more than 1000 people and was running for 4 days with 8 hours of conversation per day. The Human Library organization is active in 80 countries. Visit https://humanlibrary.org/ to learn more and get involved with the organization.
