Did you know that Diablo Canyon produces 18,000 gigawatts a year of power and supplies the electrical needs of over 3 million people? Did you know that Diablo Canyon has around 1,500 employees? The plant was planned to close this year but a bill was passed to keep it open for another 5 years. One reactor will close in 2029 and the other will close 2030 and decommissioning of the plant will take millions of dollars and decades to complete. With all of this information in my mind, I decided to interview a retired Diablo Canyon reactor operator and ask him what it was like working at this plant. Watch this to learn more about the Power Plant and what it was like working there!
