In the summer of 2024, Mrs. Neiswanger and a group called EF Educational Tours took a few students to Costa Rica. We explored many of the seven administrations in Costa Rica, whether by boat, bus, or foot. Our trip was packed day to night with numerous activities, including ziplining through the forest and kayaking in a lake. My favorite was white water rafting under the same ziplining activity we did.
I, four of my friends, and our excellent guide navigating the challenging waters.
The waterlogged expedition was an exhausting 3 hours of straight rowing in unison, passing through rocky drops and competing with one another to reach our destination. As we exerted our energy, we had to be careful not to fall into the treacherous rapids. Our guide beforehand taught us each rowing and sitting maneuver, which was an important one that included all of us sitting down at the bottom of the raft so as not to fall overboard. At the end of our journey, we enjoyed refreshing pineapples and cups of water. Although our rafting was done, we still had one more task. It was optional, but we could jump off a cliff into the rapids to float back to the rafts. We will not forget this experience, and I would 100 percent do it again.
