As you may know, AHS recently had its first pep rally of the year! The leadership team attended a leadership camp over the summer and returned with exciting ideas to engage us. They put on a great show, and we all had a blast participating in the games and enjoying the music choices and the call and response games of popular songs. It was fantastic to come together as a whole school at the start of the year.
Our amazing band team led the organization at the beginning of the rally. Initially, it appeared that the seniors were missing, so where did they go? You might have witnessed the tunnel being decorated at one of the entrances for the seniors to walk through. The prop team carefully thought about this and added some fun details to make the graduating class of 2025 feel special.
Enough of the prep, though; the real fun started with the first event hosted and organized by Paige Moore and Harper Ruiz: Musical Chairs! The band played some great music to match the intensity of the game and the speed at which the event was happening. Kyla King won the first event.
After musical chairs, we get straight into the next part of the rally; with a smooth transition, the varsity cheer squad steps powerfully onto the floor. Right after a stunning performance from the cheer squad, the next- and most notably favorite event was the pizza box bash activity. Unlike the other events so far, there is something on the line this time! You aim to keep the pizza box in your hand and not drop it while smacking others with a pool noodle. The last one standing gets a whole free pizza! Congratulations to Anthony Owens for the exceptional victory.
It was finally time to get LOUD! After 3 rounds of each grade screaming their graduation year, the class of 2025 (Seniors) was the loudest. What’s this? A midway surprise through the pep rally? We finally got the reveal of the homecoming theme for this year. Let’s groove tonight, with a 60’s to 70’s theme style dance after the first home football game.
While that news was much anticipated and had us looking to the future, we still had more competitions to come! The last and final event of the rally was a game of wits, speed, and yelling: Streamers and Trash Cans! At the bottom of the bleachers, people from your row gave you a roll full of streamers you must pass up, then back down, and the person at the bottom must put them in a trash can. Whoever made the entire line up to the top of the bleacher and back again the fastest wins! For this last activity, the winning class was once again the seniors. Mr. Smith came down to accept the winning staff. A big thank you to everyone who came to or participated in the rally, and special thanks to the AHS team for organizing the event. Thanks to our remarkable people at AHS for setting the event up, and have an ORANGE & GREYT year!
