Christy Reasner
This year we have a few new counselors. You may have noticed that your counselor has changed and yours may or may not be Christy Reasner! She attended Allan Hancock College for a while and then went to Cal Poly to study Psychology. She then moved to University of La Verne and got her masters in counseling and education. She will be a great addition to the group of counselors here at AHS and let’s find out some more information about her!
Students from L to Ra, this is your new counselor! Mrs Reasner loves a good burger and adventure movies. 2 of her favorite movies are all of the Harry Potter movies and The Goonies. She likes to camp, read, go to the beach, and swim!
She wants to create more of a college going culture and help students recognize that education is good and helps them in their futures. “I believe that every student has an opportunity to become whoever they want to be and it just takes one positive person in their life to influence good things.” says Mrs Reasner! “My lack of mentorship inspires me to be the kind of counselor that I didn’t have.”
Before becoming a counselor, she was a social worker for child welfare services but she realized she wasn’t able to affect the kind of change that she wanted to see in the world, this is when she figured that teaching children was the key. She is here to listen, is able to build relationships and understands what the student needs to be successful. “I know that I am able to positively affect change in people’s lives and I can help students change the legacy’s of their families and it can be generational and that’s exciting!”
We are so excited to have Mrs Reasner be one of our new counselors and we believe that she will be a great addition to the staff!
