AHS Basketball begins their Training
Recently, the Atascadero Greyhounds kicked off their fall sports season, featuring football, water polo, tennis, volleyball, golf, and cross country. In addition to these activities, the AHS basketball team has started strength training to get a head start on developing character, athleticism, and team chemistry ahead of their upcoming season.
Under the guidance of varsity basketball head coach Augie Johnston, players at all three levels are learning the importance of hard work as they prepare for the upcoming season. After school, they meet two to three times a week in the weight room or gym, diving straight into their training.
Coach Augie pushes each and every one of his athletes to be the very best version of themselves. He stands by the quote,
His program inspires athletes to support one another on their journey to greatness, fostering a sense of camaraderie and providing encouragement during shared struggles.
These workouts may be challenging, but they are essential for progressing to the next level. They include a mix of lower and upper body exercises, core strengthening, and conditioning to boost speed and agility. The basketball team is committed to performing well and is excited for a fantastic season ahead!
