Homecoming Night
On September 13th, AHS celebrated its 2024 Homecoming football game, complete with an exciting halftime show! the AHS Cheer Team and Atascadero Student Body collaborated with many talented performers to dance the night away, all under the theme “Let’s Groove Tonight.” With nods to the movie “Little Miss Sunshine” and an awesome selection of songs from the 70s the atmosphere was vibrant and electric. The football team was leading at halftime, and the energy was powerful both on and off the field. It was a fantastic evening of community support and school spirit!
We spoke with some participants who contributed to the spirit of this special night to hear about their experiences one being Lucy Linn, a performer in the halftime show.
She shared, “It was a little strange since I’d never done anything like that before, but it was fun to try something new. I was really excited, though it was a bit scary.” She explained that they were approached about the performance two months prior and had numerous dress rehearsals leading up to homecoming. “Desiree Asamoah, Vice President of ASB, organized everything, from creating the dances with the ASB girls to selecting and editing the music.” Overall, Lucy had a fantastic experience and is eager for more opportunities in high school as this is the perfect time to explore and try new things.
This year we had many amazing nominees for homecoming. The freshman royalty were Sadie Joy Levine and Tyler Knutson. The sophomore royalty were Carly Spann and Dane Mallory. The junior royalty was Meli Tonga and Chad Clark. The football sweetheart was Grace Lewis, part of the sports med team at the high school. The nominees for king and queen were Issac Cooks, Sarah Gracia, Samatha Bedell, Evan Churchill, Anina Jenkins, and Matthew Nucci.
Samatha Bedell and Evan Churchill were crowned King and Queen in a touching moment with last years King and Queen, Skylar and Gabby.
It was a spectacular game and performance that very few of us are likely to forget.
