Keiko Nagita is a Japanese novelist, scriptwriter, and manga writer, best known for her classic work Candy Candy, originally published as a manga from 1975 to 1979, which was later adapted into a popular anime series. Nagita wrote the story for Candy Candy under the pen name Kyoko Mizuki collaborating with illustrator Yumiko Igarashi. The story follows the life of a cheerful orphan girl, Candice “Candy” White Ardlay, as she navigates love, friendship, and hardships.
Apart from Candy Candy, Nagita has written many other novels and works. She is an award-winning author, having received the prestigious Kōdansha Children’s Literature Culture Award for her contributions to children’s literature.
In recent years, Nagita published a novelization of Candy Candy called Candy Candy: The Final Story, offering fans a fresh perspective on the beloved story while resolving some long-standing debates about its ending.
Candy candy has a special place in my heart since my mom loved this show, this was the only anime she watched. My mom and I would watch it on youtube when I was 5, it was actually my introduction to anime.
