On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, the seniors in the class of 2025 were awarded with an Academic Letter, which was achieved because they received a GPA of 3.75 or higher and passed all their classes last semester in Spring 2024. Students have the opportunity to get this award 2 times as a junior for the fall and spring semester, and they can get it once as a senior for the fall semester. With the Academic Letter, students are able to receive a varsity letter with a lamp of knowledge patch for their first time, honor pin the second time, and finally a chevron the third time as a senior, in which the seniors on this date received their honor pin.
When asking some of the seniors how they felt about getting the Academic Letter, one senior named Noah Katona mentioned that he “didn’t even know [he] got one, so [he] was pretty surprised”, further explaining that he “[hasn’t] gotten an award in like years” so he was cool with it. Another senior, named Paige Elliot, mentioned that to her she felt even though “AP Calculus [was] kicking [her] butt [this year, it was] pretty good” to get the award from last semester. The event took place in the library, hosted by the Sophomore Class Officers and ASB Commissioners, and as a treat, different kinds of cupcakes made by Molly Brewster were provided to celebrate these seniors’ accomplishments.
